If you are considering reading the stories that follow, it behooves
me to write some kind of disclaimer. I have been told by several
friends and at least one lawyer that this is a good idea. Without
this disclaimer, it is possible that you might believe that the
things you read in the flowing stories are true. Or worse, you
might become convinced that I believe they are true. And given
the nature of these stories, a rational person could be convinced
that I had completely lost my marbles. So I must state here, in
perfectly clear terms that what you will be reading is complete
and total fiction, and that I am in no way delusional or mentally
unbalanced.
Sure, there is a history
of mental illness in my family. I don’t
deny it. It’s a matter of public record. I come from a line
of rather creative and different thinkers. Sometimes this hasn't’t
worked out so well for some of them. But I myself do not suffer from
any mental impairment. How do I know this? Simple. I ask people.
It’s no good asking yourself if you’re sane. You’re
biased. Your opinion cannot be trusted. But if you have the wherewithal
to ask someone else and they state that you most likely aren’t
raving mad, well, there you go.
So I will state again,
that these works are fiction. Yes, it is true that these stories
feature my wife and me as chief protagonists.
It would be silly to alter our names in an attempt to convince you
that I’m talking about someone else. You will not be reading
about the adventures of Stephan and Roshanna but Steven and Rossana.
We live near the small town of Wellington, Ohio which I likewise
will not attempt to conceal.
The house you will be
reading about does exist. Its features have not been changed or
exaggerated. It is situated about 3 miles from the above mentioned
town of Wellington on about 6 acres of land. It is an unusual home
in many ways. The most obvious feature is that
its
mostly
underground,
but that’s
the least strange thing about it. The stories you read here relate
some of the Odd Things that we have seen or experienced since moving
here.
So, yes the main characters
are real people and yes there is a Wellington Ohio and we do live
in the home referred to in these stories. But
that does not mean that anything you are about to read is true. Although
many of the ‘Odd things’ that I point out in these stories
are plainly visible to the casual observer and the people that I
refer to are very real and can be found in and around the town, this
should not be taken as any kind of statement of fact. It’s
just a story, pure and simple. Friends and relatives may have their
own stories about things they have seen with their own eyes or experienced
here. So far as these stories and eyewitness accounts are concerned
it
would
be best to consider them just as fictional, no matter what they claim.
